17 Year-Old Shoplifter Seriously Injures Store Employee

WINNIPEG – A shoplifter seriously assaulted a store employee as he was trying to flee a business on Portage Avenue on March 21.

Police arrived at the store at about 8:30 to find the shoplifter being held by store security. They learned that the suspect had tried to run out of the store with several articles of clothing. Several of the employees confronted him and he injured one of them as he was trying to get away.

The victim was taken to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.

A 17-year-old male has been charged with Robbery, Aggravated Assault and Possess Weapon.
