25-Year-Old Woman Arrested for 20 Plus Thefts and Robberies in Winnipeg

WINNIPEG – Winnipeg Police have arrested and charged a 25-year-old woman responsible for several thefts at Liquor Marts and other retail businesses.

Police said between June 15th and August 27th the woman went to various Liquor Mart locations around the city of Winnipeg. She would enter the store, select several liquor bottles and exit the store without making any attempt to pay. Liquor worth approximately $3,760 was stolen over the course of 19 incidents.

On August 4th of this year, two women went to a retail store on Empress Street, selected approximately $360 in merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay. The women were confronted by an employee at which time one of the suspects produced a metal pipe and threatened the employee before they both fled.

Then during the evening of September 10th a woman went to a retail store in the 1200 block of St. Mary’s Road, selected about $95 in merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay. The woman was confronted by several Security Officers at which time she stated she had bear spray and a knife. She then showed a knife and threatened the Security Officers before she took off.

Finally, on Monday night a woman went to the same retail store in the 1200 block of St. Mary’s Road, this time grabbing approximately $200 in merchandise and exited the store without making any attempt to pay. She was confronted by several Security Officers and was placed under arrest.

Alycia Yvonne Leitch, a 25-year-old woman from Winnipeg, has been charged with a number of theft and robbery-related offences.
