WINNIPEG – After a lengthy investigation police have charged 35 year-old Guillaume Meisterhans with sexual assault and sexual interference.
In 2014, Meisterhans worked as a mentor for a non-profit youth mentoring organization and was involved as a mentor to a 7-year-old child. During that time the child disclosed to a caregiver that he had been the victim of inappropriate behaviour. The organization ended the relationship between the two but did not lay charges at that time.
In July of 2018 police investigated Meisterhans for 5 separate incidents that took place between April 2017 and April 2018. During the investigation they became aware of the 2014 incidents. Again, it involved a 7 year-old child that he was mentoring as a volunteer with Child and Family Services.
The child disclosed the incidents in April and on July 21, Meisterhans turned himself in to investigators. He was charged with both Sexual Assault and Sexual Interference. Police also laid charges dating back to the 2014 assaults at the same time. He is being held in custody.
It should be noted that the Meisterhans ran a French language tutoring business during this period.
