WINNIPEG – An early morning downtown assault resulted in a 45 year-old woman being taken to hospital on March 30.
The woman was delivering papers just before 7:00 am at Broadway and Hargrave when she was approached by the suspect who was screaming incoherently. He tried unsuccessfully to get in her car and then began punching the victim repeatedly until she fell to the ground. He continued to assault her while searching through her pockets, looking for her car keys.
18 year-old Liam John Freeman has been charged with robbery and uttering threats causing death or bodily harm.
He has been detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
