56 Year-Old Man Receives More Than 50 Stitches After Broken Beer Bottle Attack

WINNIPEG – A 56 year-old Winnipeg man received more than 50 stitches after he was attacked with a broken beer bottle.

The victim was socializing with a man he had met earlier in the evening in a suite on Yorke Avenue when the suspect randomly smashed his beer bottle over the victim’s head. He then stabbed the victim numerous times with the broken bottle, stole his bag and fled.

Officers quickly located the suspect and placed him under arrest.

21 year-old Jared Gerlinger of Brandon has been charged with robbery, aggravated assault and failing to comply with a condition of his recognizance.

He has been detained in custody.
