WINNIPEG – A two vehicle collision at the intersection of the Perimeter Highway and Waverley Street has claimed the life of a 37 year-old Winnipeg man.
RCMP responded to the collision that occurred on March 15 at 8:55 am. They determined that a car, being driven by the 37-year-old man from Winnipeg, was heading westbound on the Perimeter Highway when it collided into the rear of a westbound semi-truck and trailer. The semi was stopped on the Perimeter Highway at the Waverley Street traffic light when the collision occurred.
The 37-year-old driver, and lone occupant of the car, was pronounced deceased at the scene. It does not appear as though the driver was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. The investigation will determine if speed and alcohol were factors.
The 34-year-old driver of the semi was not injured.
RCMP Central Traffic Services, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
