WINNIPEG – The Medical Lead for Manitoba’s Vaccine Implementation Task Force Dr. Joss Reimer says all residents of personal care homes in the province who chose to be vaccinated for COVID-19 have gotten their first dose.

Dr. Reimer visited Meadowood Manor PCH this past week to administer one of the last vaccinations in the campaign, and says Manitoba Health was able to get it all done in three weeks – one week ahead of schedule, thanks to partnerships and support from teams from Regional Health Authorities and Personal Care Homes across the province. She, along with Health Minister Heather Stefanson, is thanking Manitoba’s health care providers, along with task force members, for making the early milestone possible.

The Manitoba government recently released a four-stage immunization plan that lays out how it will expand its immunization campaign further to reach the province’s priority groups, and then all Manitobans, based on age and medical data. Stefanson says, when additional vaccine supplies arrive, Manitoba will quickly launch a major new province-wide COVID-19 immunization campaign.

The province says it’s also planning to launch multiple new vaccine “super sites” across Manitoba, and will expand existing super sites to further increase capacity.
