WINNIPEG – Manitoba’s Amphibexes are getting back at it on the Red River.

Every year around this time, the ice-breaking machines are used to try and reduce the possibility of ice jamming and flooding in the spring.

The province is also using remote-controlled ice-cutters.

The focus is on 28 kilometres of the Red between Selkirk and Netley Creek.

If conditions allow, work could also be done on the Icelandic River in Riverton and at the outlet of the Portage Diversion.
