WINNIPEG – Animal rights activists are calling on a popular fair in the province to cancel two of its events.

The Winnipeg Humane Society and Animal Justice hope the Royal Manitoba Winter Fair in Brandon will put a stop to its calf scramble and sheep wrangling.

Participants chase calves and ride the sheep but the activists say it promotes animal cruelty.

The fair begins next Monday.
