Arrests Made in Stabbing Assault of Korean Exchange Student

WINNIPEG – A 23 year-old exchange student was robbed and stabbed multiple times while walking with a friend.

On October 28th at 12:30 am the victim was walking near Rosedale Avenue and Daly Street when he was approached by a man and a woman. The man produced the knife and demanded the victim’s personal belongings. A fight began and the victim was stabbed multiple times. The victim was eventually able to wrestle the knife out of the suspects hand but then the female suspect picked it up and seriously slashed the victim. The suspects took his cell phone and fled.

The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition but was later upgraded to stable.

Police have now arrested two suspects:

19 year-old Sheldon Brian Henry Owen has been charged with aggravated assault, robbery, possessing a weapon, and failing to comply with a probation order.

A 16-year-old female has been charged with aggravated assault, robbery, and possessing a weapon.

Both were remanded into custody following their arrest.
