Assiniboine Park Zoo will celebrate Zookeeper Weekend on Saturday, July 21 and Sunday, July 22 in honour of National Zookeeper Week.

As a part of the celebration, the Zoo is holding a “Zookeeper for a Day” contest for children ages 12 and under. To enter, kids must write a short paragraph explaining why they would like to be a zookeeper for the day. Authors of the five winning entries will enjoy an exclusive zookeeper experience at the Assiniboine Park Zoo during Zookeeper Week. For full details and to enter, please visitwww.assiniboineparkzoo.ca/contests. The submission deadline is July 10 at midnight. Winners will be contacted by July 13. Winners will be chosen by our Senior Director of Animal Care and Conservation at Assiniboine Park Zoo, along with the zookeeper team.

“Zookeeper Week is a wonderful chance to recognize the roles that animal care givers play in animal conservation and education,” said Grant Furniss, Senior Director of Animal Care and Conservation at Assiniboine Park Zoo. “We hope our visitors enjoy meeting our amazing team and are inspired to protect our natural resources and wildlife.”
