Manitoba Post StaffNews

WINNIPEG – It’s rent day for many businesses across Manitoba. The second since the pandemic began. CoVid-19 restrictions are going to loosen on Monday but these business people will still be struggling. They’ve gone several weeks with little or no money coming in and even if you are one of the businesses re-opening, there’s no guarantee people will be walking through your door. Plus there may be new costs to doing business. Hand sanitizer, cleaning supplies, possibly more staff to handle customers. Yes, there’s the Canada Emergency Commercial Rent Assistance program, announced by Ottawa, but landlords need to apply for it and many aren’t because they might have to wait weeks for the money. So even though public health orders will ease somewhat in a few days, life is far from back to normal and may never be the way it was before all this began for entrepreneurs and liely all of us .
