BRANDON, MB – The Brandon Green Cart Program will begin for another season on Tuesday, April 24th.
The City’s Sanitation Section said this year weekly pick-up will be maintained through to early November, weather-depending.
All collection days will coincide with your homes regular garbage and recycling pick-up day. As with last year’s program you’re asked to have your Green Cart out for pick-up no later than 6 AM on your scheduled pick-up day and to only use compostable plastic bags or kraft paper bags as bin liners.
Participants are also encouraged to rinse their Green Cart out regularly to avoid compost residues or odors. A refresher on the City of Brandon’s Green Cart Program and what organic materials are and are not accepted can be found here. Remember, pet droppings should be double-bagged and placed into the appropriate garbage bins ONLY and not into Green Carts.
The City said it remains extremely committed to the Green Cart Program, which now serves upwards of 6,800 households.
As always, Brandon residents can also access any one of the City’s compost drop-off depots listed here or can take their Green Cart directly to the Eastview Landfill. Summer hours at the Eastview Landfill are now in effect and can be found here.
