Car Thieves Caught at Gas Station

WINNIPEG – A gas fill-up resulted in the capture of two car thieves on Boxing Day.

At about 11:10 pm police observed a stolen car pulling on to a gas station near Salter and Selkirk Avenue. When the occupants of the car saw police they abandoned the car and ran away.

The man and woman were picked up a short time later. The man had 4.6 grams of methamphetamine in his possession and a search of the car revealed an improvised firing device, a rifle, ammunition and an additional 1.9 grams of meth.

The vehicle had been reported stolen on December 25th.

31 year-old Lee Edward Douglas Pashe of Long Plain, Manitoba has been charged with 14 weapons charges, Possession of Methamphetamine, 6 charges of Failing to Comply with Recognizance and Possession of Stolen Property

24 year-old Jessica Rose Munroe has been charged with 7 Firearm offences, Possession of Stolen Property, and Possession of Methamphetamine. She also had three outstanding warrants for Failing to Attend Court and Failing to Comply with a Probation Order.

Both persons have been held in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
