WINNIPEG – A number of Manitoba churches have joined forces to legally challenge COVID-19 public health orders. They say the orders affect their right to worship.
The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms is representing the churches. It will argue that coronavirus restrictions are a severe infringement on freedom of religion.
The province’s chief public health officer, Dr. Brent Roussin, says he won’t comment on the lawsuit, except to say that without these measures, the health care system would be overrun and many more people would die.
