City Layoffs Coming

Manitoba Post StaffNews

WINNIPEG – The city will lay off hundreds of workers. 600 community services employees will be temporarily laid off on Sunday unless the province can use them. They simply have no work because many facilities are closed.

Mayor Brian Bowman says they’re reaching out to the employees to see if they would be willing to work for the Manitoba government instead. However there’s no commitment yet from Broadway.

Bowman is also considering transferring some staff to community organizations like Winnipeg Harvest.
