WINNIPEG, MB. – The Downtown Winnipeg BIZ and End Homelessness Winnipeg organized the 6th Annual CEO Sleepout in the fall of 2017 and raised over $90,000.
The CEO Sleepout, recruits over 150 leaders from the private and public sectors to help bring attention and awareness to the intricate and complex issues of homelessness in our city and downtown community.
Since 2011, almost $900,000 has been raised to support social agencies in their efforts to employ their participants and in providing them with quality-of-life supports and access to housing. These efforts have resulted in the employment of 137 people experiencing homelessness for more than 81,000 hours – with many of these individuals returning to school or finding permanent full-time work.
Community organizations are now invited to apply for over $90,000. Groups have until January 22, 2018 to apply with funds being distributed by the end of February for use in 2018.
Examples of past projects that have received funding from the CEO Sleepout include:
– Graffiti Art Programming
– Red Road Lodge
– Siloam Mission
– Artbeat Studio Inc.
– Macdonald Youth Services
– Union Gospel Mission
