WINNIPEG – Indigenous people in Manitoba make up 10 per cent of the population but they have 20 per cent of the COVID-19 cases.

More than half of the province’s First Nations are dealing with coronavirus.

Nine aboriginals have died in the last week, 27 since the pandemic began.

There are over 1,400 active cases on and off reserve and the five day test positivity rate is 19 per cent.

It got so bad near The Pas that the military was sent in late last week to help with an outbreak at the Rod McGillivary Memorial Care Home on the Opaskwayak Cree Nation.
