WINNIPEG – Support is growing for a petition calling for the Winnipeg Police Service to be defunded.

The Justice 4 Black Lives online petition has been signed by 30,000 people.

This follows last Friday’s rally that saw about half that many people turn out.

Premier Brian Pallister was asked about defunding police. He says his government has always focused on preventing crime and not just policing it and he’s open to discussing how to improve the system.
