Drug Traffickers Arrested After Police Chase

WINNIPEG – On January 9 at 9:00pm., police watched a man who was known to them leave a hotel that was under observation and drive down Pembina Highway where he picked up another man.

When police attempted to pull them over, the car sped away, driving over a boulevard to avoid oncoming traffic.

The passenger jumped out of the car and began running between houses. A short time later the driver got out and began running between houses as well. The driver was caught and when he was searched, police found $950 cash.

The second man was found in a Jeep driving on Clarence Avenue a short time later.with three other people. The four suspects in the Jeep were arrested and police found an additional $830 on the second suspect.

When police searched a vehicle that one of the suspects was seen driving the previous day they found a kilogram of cocaine worth about $60,000.

33 year-old Mulata Ibrahim was charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Proceed of Property Obtained by a Crime, Flight While Pursued by a Peace Officer, Failing to Comply with Condition of Undertaking and Driving While Suspended.

26 year-old Joseph Sunday Frangi has been charged with Resisting a Peace Officer, Possession of Property Obtained by a Crime, Failing to Compl with a Condition of Recognizance, and Driving While Suspended.

24 tear-old Gideon Libanos has been charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking.

All three men have been detained.

A 22-year-old woman was also arrested and charged with Possession of Cocaine for the Purpose of Trafficking. She was released on a Promise to Appear.
