Drugs, Weapons, & Cash Found During Traffic Stop

WINNIPEG – Police stopped a speeding vehicle on Aikins Street Monday night and found drugs, weapons, cash and stolen goods.

Police said when they stopped the vehicle three occupants identified themselves to officers, police learned the two passengers had lied about their identities, both having outstanding warrants for their arrests.

One of the passengers kicked an officer when told she was under arrest. She had a forged identification card and a hunting knife in her possession. A second knife was found near the bottom of the driver’s seat.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a number of items including the following:

  • Approximately 16.43 grams of methamphetamine (street value of about $1,650)
  • Approximately 3.1 grams of cocaine (street value of about $250)
  • $180 in Canadian currency

Police said Kevin Grant Lingasin, a 37-year-old man from Winnipeg, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000

Desiree Sadie Ann Cushnie, an 18-year-old woman from Winnipeg, has been charged with:

  • Assault a Peace Officer
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Possession of a Forged Document with Intent
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000

Finally, Jason Steven Tre Sanderson, a 22-year-old man from Winnipeg, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000
