WINNIPEG – Early Christmas Eve morning Winnipeg Firefighters were called to a fire on Pritchard that lasted over three hours.

Tuesday, December 24 around 12:30AM a fire broke out in a three-storey home in the 200 block of Pritchard Avenue.

When fire crews arrived, heavy smoke was coming from the home. Crews battled the fire from outside until conditions improved enough to allow firefighters inside the home. The fire was declared under control at 3:29 a.m. The home sustained significant smoke, water, and fire damage.

Everyone inside the home had already evacuated before fire crews arrived. Officials said there were no injuries reported.

Drivers in the area should exercise caution as the water used to fight the fire covered the road and has now frozen. City of Winnipeg will be monitoring the area and applying sand and de-icing agents as required.
