WINNIPEG – The headline is correct, and we are referring to Churchill, Manitoba.

Environment Canada issued a “Heat Warning” for Churchill Saturday afternoon with temperatures forecasted to reach 30 degrees on Sunday.

Environment Canada says a surge of unseasonably warm temperatures are expected to arrive on Sunday over northeastern Manitoba and continue through Monday.

Temperatures should warm up to near 29 degrees by Sunday afternoon as the warm air moves into the region. Sunday night, temperatures will dip to the 16 to 19 range.

Monday, southerly winds will continue to tap into very warm air and boost temperatures into the 30 to 32 degrees range during the afternoon.

The weather statement reads “The confidence level is quite high that these temperatures will be reached.”
