HYDRO LAYOFFS

Manitoba Post StaffNews

WINNIPEG – Manitoba Hydro has announced layoffs due to CoVid-19. Up to 700 employees will be temporarily laid off for four months starting this week. This move will save $11 million. Union officials obviously aren’t happy about it and the NDP is accusing the Pallister government of using coronavirus to justify the job cuts. But this may be just the beginning, as more layoff notices are very possible at other crown corporations, the universities and in the public service.
