Machete-Wielding Man Threatens Bar Patrons

WINNIPEG – A machete wielding man caused mayhem at a Maryland Street bar, threatening patrons and causing damage before police caught up with him.

The suspect’s rampage started at about 4:13 PM when the he threatened to assault two separate patron’s in the bar. He swung his machete at them but instead hit a chair, table and television before fleeing to a home on Victor Street.

He began causing a disturbance there and when police arrived to arrest him he was belligerent and extremely uncooperative with them.

No damage or injuries were sustained as a result of this incident.

26 year-old Charles Knott has been charged with:

Assault With a Weapon

Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

An outstanding warrant for Fail to Comply with Probation Order was also executed.

He has been detained at the Provincial Remand Centre awaiting disposition.
