WINNIPEG – Hockey Winnipeg officially cancelled the rest of the current minor league season on the weekend, including the playoffs.

In a statement, President Chris Hall and Executive Director Ian McArton said current COVID-19 restrictions, timelines and ice availability just don’t make a season feasible.

It’s not clear yet how any refunds to parents might work.

The statement also said this decision is being made with heavy hearts and after much discussion.
