WINNIPEG – A new city report says parking rates should come down. It’s recommending a drop of 75 cents an hour.
The report says this would bring Winnipeg more in line with other Canadian cities but not without a cost. The bottom line would take a $452,000 hit.
But the business community says parking is too expensive and that’s hurting their bottom line.
A couple years ago, on-street parking increased by $1.50 an hour but since then, there’s been a big drop in total hours parked.
This report will be tabled at a committee meeting at city hall on Tuesday.
