WINNIPEG – Manitoba’s two main political parties have sparred over Crown-owned Manitoba Hydro at a legislature committee hearing.
Opposition Tory finance critic Obby Khan says the NDP government is rejecting the idea of private wind farms but has no backup plan to produce new energy.
Meanwhile, the provincial government says it can build new publicly-owned generating power and still keep rates low.
New figures from Manitoba Hydro show the utility is now projecting a $190 million net loss for the fiscal year that will end in March.
