WINNIPEG – The Major Crimes Unit is investigating a shooting earlier this month.

On the night of June 18th, a woman was walking near Simcoe and St. Mathews when a man approached her and asked for directions.

While using her phone to help him, he grabbed at it and a short altercation ensued.

The suspect shot her in the upper body and fled with the phone.

The victim was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Police have released this image of a person of interest.
