WINNIPEG – A 41 year-old man was arrested after he robbed a Pembina Highway restaurant armed with a pipe wrench.

The suspect entered the restaurant holding his pipe wrench as if it were a firearm. He demanded money from an employee and fled with $300. No one was injured in the robbery.

The suspect immediately attended to a neighbouring business with the pipe wrench wrapped in cloth and presented as a firearm. He demanded money from the employee while threatening to shoot him. The suspect was given less than $100 and left.

Next, he went to a nearby gas station, still armed with the same weapon, demanded the employee call him a taxi and threatened to shoot the employee. The suspect eventually left and confronted a person in a parking lot of another business.

Police arrived and located the suspect in the area of Pembina Hwy and Jubillee Avenue. He was placed under arrest and taken into custody.
