WINNIPEG – A 49 year old Calgary man has been arrested in Manitoba for human smuggling.

Police allege he picked up foreign nationals who crossed on foot into the province from the US last month.

Officers conducted a traffic stop near Dominion City after getting reports from American border agents of a group that was believed to be heading north with the intention of crossing into Canada.

Cops say they found a man driving a vehicle with seven men who were confirmed to be from the Republic of Chad.
