University of Winnipeg Collegiate Teacher Charged with Sexual Assault

WINNIPEG – A teacher who taught at University of Winnipeg Collegiate has been charged with two counts of Sexual Assault dating back to incidents that occurred between 2016 and 2018. Both victims were students of the accused and under 18 at the time of initial contact.

Investigators from the Sex Crimes Unit determined that the accused developed inappropriate teacher/student relationships with both girls. Both girls were sexually assaulted. One victim was 16 and one was 18-years-old at the time of the assault which occurred between 2016 and 2018. Neither victim sustained physical injuries.

An arrest warrant was issued in June, 2019, as the accused was out of the country.

On July 10, 2019 investigators arrested the accused upon his return to Winnipeg.

46 year-old Ishmael Mustapha has been charged with Sexual Assault x 2 and Sexual Exploitation. He was initially detained in custody, but has since been released on a Recognizance.
