We Had Fewer Accidents on Manitoba Roads in December

Manitoba PostNews

WINNIPEG, MB. – There were less accidents on Manitoba roads in December compared to the year before.

Collison claims were 14 per cent lower than in December of 2016. Last month a total of 13,531 collision claims were opened, compared to 15,734 for December 2016.

“Manitoba is still very much in the ‘winter driving’ season,” said Ward Keith, vice-president, Business Development and Communications for MPI. “Historically, collision claims typically increase during the winter driving months (December, January and February) due to challenging winter driving situations. This recent decrease is a positive step in making 2018 the safest year on our roads.”

It was just a few days ago that Manitoba Public Insurance reported that 2017 was the second safest year on Manitoba roads over the last 35 years.
