Winnipeg Checkstop has 8 Impaired Driving-Related Arrests​

WINNIPEG, MB. – Week four of the Winnipeg Police Checkstop program resulted in 8 impaired driving-related arrests.

The Checkstop program is on the road every day for the month of December, including New Year’s Eve. You can expect to see an increased presence of police officers on Winnipeg roadways this time of year, enforcing Impaired Driving legislation.

Week 4 (Friday, December 22 to Thursday, December 28) results:

  • A total of 332 vehicles were stopped.
  • 21 road-side breath tests administered resulting in 1 fail and 3 warn (72 hr DL suspension).
  • 8 impaired driving-related arrests (Highest BAC was three times the statutory limit)
  • 1 other criminal arrest
  • 10 traffic tickets.
