WINNIPEG – Mayor Brian Bowman was all smiles when he helped announce over $12 million dollars in federal funding for our city to build new affordable housing units.

Ottawa’s Rapid Housing Initiative will construct 88 units in Winnipeg.

Siloam Mission CEO Jim Bell was also part of the announcement as his community group will get about $1.5 million to add 20 safe and sober units for people leaving treatment for addiction.

Nationally, the initiative will add more than 3,000 housing units for people at risk of being homeless, women fleeing domestic violence and the disabled.
