Winnipeg Man Tries to Smuggle Drugs into Stony Mountain Prison

WINNIPEG, MB – An 46-year-old man from Winnipeg was caught trying to smuggle drugs into Stony Mountain prison yesterday.

Stonewall RCMP arrested Gabriel Bruce after officers, with help from Correctional Services, received a tip that he was going to attempt to smuggle the drugs into the prison.

This tip received led to a traffic stop in Stonewall. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 26 grams of marihuana shatter, 42 grams of cocaine, and a gram of meth. Police believe these drugs were destined for an inmate who was being treated at a local hospital who would then attempt to transport the drugs inside the institution.

Gabriel Bruce, a 46-year-old male from Winnipeg has been charged with Trafficking a Controlled Substance X2, Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking X2, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Fail to Comply with a Recognizance and several Highway Traffic Act charges.
