Winnipeg Police Arrest a Man Brandishing a Gun

WINNIPEG, MB. – Winnipeg Police arrest Kyle Joseph Houle, 33-years-old, who was brandishing a handgun in a series of incidents.

It started yesterday (January 2) around 5:30 p.m., when a man was exiting an apartment in the 400 block of Cumberland Avenue. He saw a man pointing a handgun at a third, unidentified male. He yelled at the suspect to stop, which prompted the suspect to turn on him. The suspect pointed the gun at his head and threatened him. The suspect then fled and the victim contacted police.

It is believed that Houle then went to a parkade where he confronted 3 adults in a vehicle and pointed a gun them. These victims remained in the vehicle and the suspect left on foot.

Police caught up with Houle as he was leaving the parkade, where he made threats to kill both officers at the time of his arrest.

In a news release police said they seized the handgun and also found a 2-foot machete concealed in his jacket. The suspect made threats to kill both officers at the time of his arrest.

Kyle Joseph Houle has been charged with:

  • Point Firearm x 3
  • Utter Threats x 3
  • Posses Weapon
  • Carry Concealed Weapon
  • Possess Identity Document
