WINNIPEG – Winnipeg Police are investigating four separate stabbings that took place over the July long weekend.
They responded to the first stabbing at about 6:40 AM on June 29 near Kate Street and Notre Dame Avenue. When they arrived, they found a woman who had been stabbed in the upper body. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to stable condition.

Police responded to another incident at around 10:10 PM on Greenway Crescent where they found another woman who had been severely stabbed. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Officers were then advised the RCMP had the suspect in custody in the 4100 block of Portage Avenue.
It was learned that following the attack on the victim, the suspect stole the victim’s vehicle and while traveling westbound on Highway 1 veered into oncoming traffic striking a semi-truck. He then fled the vehicle and jumped under another passing semi-truck. Due to his injuries, the suspect was transported to a hospital for treatment.
53 year-old Naresh Ramnanan has been arrested for attempted murder, aggravated assault, theft of a motor vehicle, assault with a weapon and dangerous operation of a conveyance.
Early the next morning officers responded to a report on Portage Avenue and found a man suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to the hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable.
It was learned that the victim was attacked at a restaurant/bar in the 200 block of Edmonton Street and walked to the area of Portage Avenue and Kennedy Street. Before the altercation, another adult male was injured inside the business while trying to break up an altercation. This victim suffered minor lacerations and was also treated at a hospital.

Finally, an hour later a 23 year-old man was stabbed in the 3100 block of Pembina Highway while he was involved in a verbal altercation with a woman that escalated to the point that she stabbed him with a knife. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition
A 31-year-old woman of Winnipeg has been arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault and Fail to Comply with Recognizance. She has been detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
