WINNIPEG – Police in Winnipeg responded to 5 separate calls involving guns in the city over a 24-hour period between August 14th and 15th.

Here are the five incidents police are investigating:

1. On August 14th at 1:15 a.m., 2 women robbed a grocery store in the West Alexander neighbourhood. One of the women pulled out a long gun and chased customers out of the store while the second woman stole various items from behind the counter. Both suspects fled. There were no injuries

2. On August 14th at 11:20 p.m. a lone woman robbed a grocery store in the Weston neighbourhood. The woman pulled out a handgun and robbed the employee of an undisclosed amount of cash. She fled on foot. No injuries were reported.

3. On August 15th at 10:50 p.m. a woman armed with a handgun robbed the same grocery store as noted above. She fled on foot. There were no injuries.

4. On August 15th at 10:20 p.m. a man armed with a loaded sawed-off shotgun entered a restaurant in the Centennial neighbourhood. Police responded and were able to safely disarm the man and take him into custody. Police say the man appeared to be under the influence of methamphetamine.

5. On August 15th at 11:25 p.m. a 16-year-old man was walking in the Fort Rouge neighbourhood when he was confronted and robbed by two men, one armed with a firearm and the other with a knife. The suspects fled in a vehicle. Police located and arrested the two suspects.

Police said there was an additional incident that happened outside of the 24-hour window; In the early morning of August 16th police responded to a report of a man shot. The victim was taken to hospital in critical condition. Major Crimes is investigating.
