WINNIPEG – A 25-year-old man wanted on multiple warrants was arrested after trying to carjack a couple in broad daylight and steal a different vehicle.
Police said on Sunday at 3:25 in the afternoon a man and a woman were sitting in a vehicle parked on Balmoral Street when a male suspect approached the driver’s side door and pulled it open while holding a knife.
The suspect attempted to pull the man out of the vehicle and threatened to harm him.
The male victim struggled to pull the door closed while the suspect continually tried to force it open. The woman was able to put the vehicle in reserve as the male victim hit the suspect causing him to let go and run off.
Not long after that the suspect got in an unlocked vehicle that had been left running. The suspect reversed the vehicle into a garage and witnesses in the area pulled him out of the vehicle and held him until police arrived.
