Manitoba Post StaffNews

WINNIPEG – The Manitoba government has announced new measures to strengthen the province’s bail system.

Premier Wab Kinew says Crown attorneys will now consider the potential impact on victims when deciding whether to oppose bail.

There is also funding for a dozen police officers in Winnipeg to focus on arresting people in violation of release conditions.

Improvements will also be made to data collection and the monitoring of people out on bail.
