14 and 18 Year-Old Stab Victim Protecting Woman

WINNIPEG – A 14 year-old youth and an 18 year-old man threatened and assaulted a woman and then stabbed the man who confronted them.

The incident began at about 1:30 AM. on May 24th when the two suspects began following a 26 year-old woman who was walking in the area. One of the suspects repeatedly tried to strike up a conversation with her.

She arrived at a home on Pritchard Avenue and a man came out to confront the two suspects who were harassing her. They threatened and assaulted the woman and the 31-year old man was stabbed during the altercation.

Police were flagged down and they immediately began applying first aid. He was taken to hospital in critical condition and was later upgraded to stable condition.

Witnesses in the area reported seeing two men flee the area after the stabbing. Officers located two male suspects in the area and gave chase after they fled. One male was taken into custody on Redwood Avenue, and the other was taken into custody on College Avenue. Two knives were seized – one from each suspect.

The victims did not know the suspects.

18 year-old Jeremiah Keegan Nepinak has been charged with:

– Aggravated Assault

– Assault

– Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm

– Possession of a Weapon

A 14-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with:

– Aggravated Assault

– Possession of a Weapon

– Fail to Comply Condition Undertaking by Judge/Justice

They were detained in custody.
