WINNIPEG – An 18 year-old Winnipeg man has been charged with dangerous driving after a lengthy investigation into a car accident that took place on Pembina highway in December 2018.

The accident occurred on December 7 at about 1:00 PM. at the intersection of Pembina Highway and Ducharme Avenue. Four youths, including the driver were taken to hospital and one 17 year-old youth was seriously injured, requiring a lengthy stay in hospital.

It is believed that the vehicle, a white 4-door sedan, had been travelling southbound on Pembina Highway. A second vehicle, a black 2-door sedan, may have been travelling with the white sedan on Pembina Highway and later stopped at the scene of the collision. Investigators have since spoken with the occupants of that vehicle.

Traffic Division investigators have determined that speed played a role during the incident. It is believed that the white 4-door sedan reached speeds well in excess of 100 km/h in areas where the speed limit varies between 50 km/h and 60 km/h.

During the afternoon of June 2, 2019, the driver of the white 4-door sedan attended the Winnipeg Police Service HQ building where he was placed under arrest.
