19-Year-Old Leads Winnipeg Police on Chase

Winnipeg, MB. – A 19-year-old Winnipeg man who was fleeing in a stolen vehicle from a Break and Enter, lead police on a chase through city streets.

Tyler Robert Byington, a 19-year-old man of Winnipeg, has been charged with the following:

  • Break Enter & Theft – Dwelling House
  • Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer
  • Driving While Disqualified
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

it all started on Friday December 15 just before noon when Byington, while driving a stolen vehicle, entered a home in the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue. Police believe Byington broke a window and entered the house.

When police arrived on scene, they saw Byington exit the home with a box containing stolen belongings. Police said in a release, he immediately ran to the stolen vehicle and led officers on a pursuit that was aborted due to the suspect’s, Byington, dangerous driving.

Police said he continued to drive the stolen vehicle erratically and crashed into a fence at the intersection of Aikins Street and Pritchard Avenue. Members of the K9 unit tracked him to a home in the 300 block of Magnus Avenue.

He was detained in custody.
