POWERVIEW – After 2 1/2 years of in-depth investigation and numerous RCMP resources into the double homicide of two St. Georges men, police have now charges three people with first degree murder.
On February 28, 2017 RCMP discovered a 43 year-old man and a 53 year-old man deceased. The had both been shot.
Project Distort, consisting of investigators from the RCMP Major Crime Unit and the Powerview Detachment was created to investigate the homicides.After an intensive investigation, three people were arrested and charged.
On December 13, 2018, the RCMP Major Crime Unit charged 54-year-old Claude Francis Guimond of Fort Alexander, Manitoba, with two counts of First Degree murder.
On May 2, 2019, 22-year-old, Shezna Cynthia Guimond of Fort Alexander, Manitoba, was charged with two counts of First Degree Murder and Accessory to Murder After the Fact.
On May 7, 2019, 28-year-old Jason Andrew Bruyere of Fort Alexander, Manitoba, was charged with two counts of First Degree Murder and Accessory to Murder After the Fact.
All three suspects are currently in custody.
