WINNIPEG – Muhammad Zahid Paracha has been charged by Winnipeg Police for distributing child pornography.
Police said the suspect had been distributing child pornography via a social media app. An administrator of the one of the apps contacted police who began their investigation.
On September 17, 2017, and adult male residing in Winnipeg distributed 160 images of child pornography to the Internet via a free online calling/messaging service.
On September 27, 2017, he distributed a child pornography image to the Internet via a social media app.
On October 3, 2017, the same male distributed a child pornography video to the Internet via a social media app.
The Internet Child Exploitation Unit executed a search warrant on April 10 at a home in the Fort Richmond area. Computers and other electronic devices were seized for analysis.
Tuesday police arrested Muhammad Zahid Paracha, a 20-year-old male and charged him with:
- Possession of Child Pornography
- Imports, Distributes, Sells or Possess for the Purpose of Distribution or Sale any Child Pornography X3
He was held in custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
