WINNIPEG – Police respond to Polo Park area after receiving a call about a man carrying a gun.
Police said Friday at 10:30AM they spotted a man enter Polo Park mall. Officers gave chase and took the man into custody in an adjacent parking lot. The man was in possession of a black handgun-style pellet gun and bolt-cutters.
Police now believe that the man had first stolen a pair of shoes from a nearby business. Then went to another business and tried to steal a locked bicycle using the bolt-cutters. He then pointed the weapon at a person who had confronted him at which point the suspect took off on foot.
A 22-year-old man from Winnipeg has been arrested for:
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possession of a Weapon
- Pointing a Firearm
- Mischief Under $5,000/Obstruct in Enjoyment
- Theft Under $5000
