WINNIPEG – A 23 year-old man aggressively used a gun to frighten and intimidate 6 people on two separate occasions before being picked up by police as he was involved in a third altercation.
On January 30 the suspect pointed a rifle at a taxicab driver as he was exiting the vehicle. The man who was accompanying him also pulled a gun out of his waistband and they both made racial slurs towards the driver who drove away with both guns being pointed in his direction.
Days later, the suspect confronted five people, armed with the rifle at a home on Magnus Street. He ordered them all to their knees and pointed the rifle at each of their heads.
Later he returned to the same address and police arrived at the scene. Three people exited the building and were taken into custody. The suspect, along with a woman exited next and he lifted his jacket to show that he was armed with a gun. When police ordered him not to touch his weapon, he laughed and pulled it from his waistband, quickly throwing it in the snow. He and the woman were taken into custody.
Officers recovered a loaded rifle from the snow.
While in a police holding room the arrested man began yelling and hitting the door, causing the glass to break.
