23-Year-Old Woman dies in Collision on Highway 59

SELKIRK – A 23-year-old woman from Winnipeg died Wednesday in a collision at the corner of CIL Road and Highway 59 in the RM of St. Clements.

Mounties have determined a car was travelling northbound on Highway 59, attempting a turn onto CIL Road when it was struck by a southbound pickup truck.

RCMP said the occupants of the truck, a 48-year-old man and 9-year old boy from the RM of St. Clements, received minor injuries. The 38-year-old female driver of the car had three passengers with her, a 23-year-old woman, a 10-year-old girl, and a 6-year-old boy, all from Winnipeg. The 23-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The remaining passengers were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Police have said alcohol was not a factor and everyone was wearing their seatbelts.

The investigation continues.
