24-Year-Old Man Charged for Robbing a Winnipeg Bank

WINNIPEG – A 24-year-old man was arrested and charged after robbing a bank in Winnipeg on Wednesday.

The man walked into a bank on Main Street Wednesday afternoon at 3:35 told employees that he was there to rob the bank. The man took off on foot empty-handed.

The man tried a different bank at 3:50PM on Portage Avenue while brandishing a knife and telling employees that he was there to rob the bank. This time the man received an undisclosed amount of cash and took off on foot.

Police determined who the man and on Thursday at 4:30 in the morning arrest him at a hotel on Smith Street. While taking the man into custody the suspect head-butted an officer who suffered minor injuries.

Police said Mitchell Gilmore Carpenter, a 24-year-old man from Winnipeg, has been charged with:

  • Robbery (x2)
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Assault a Peace Officer
